Student Learning Outcomes

The finance concentration is designed to prepare students to work with the concepts, interpretive frameworks and analytical techniques of finance. Given this goal, successful graduates of the finance concentration will be able to:

  • Identify the basic elements of the theory and applications of corporate valuation, capital budgeting, capital structure, cost of capital, and working capital management.
  • Apply the basic relationship between risk and return and its application in financial asset valuation.
  • Conduct financial statement analysis.
  • Create spreadsheet models to solve real-world calculations.

Students are introduced and encouraged to take the CFA level I exam by graduation or pursue advanced degrees in accounting or finance.
