Mary joined Pacific University as a full-time faculty member in July 2006. She retired from Clark College in Washington as an Emeritus Professor after 18 years of teaching in their dental hygiene program. She also served as an adjunct instructor for the dental hygiene programs at Mount Hood Community College, Eastern Washington University, and West Los Angeles College. Her areas of expertise and interest include oral radiology, periodontics, competency-based education, and outcomes assessment.
Mary has developed dental hygiene curricula which incorporate critical thinking and evidence-based decision making skills. She has presented workshops in dental radiology, competency-based education, and critical thinking skills at professional meetings over the past 15 years.
Mary is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and the American Dental Education Association. She shares her free time between grandchildren and golfing. Living a fun, productive life with balance between work, family and friends, and recreation is her primary goal. She loves helping students mature into dental hygiene professionals with a passion for the profession.
