Required Coursework
The following courses must be completed prior to starting the Bachelor of Science in Dental Health degree completion program. All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or higher. Science courses should be taken within the last seven years.
Natural Sciences - 6 semester hours
- Two courses from two different disciplines chosen from Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Exercise Science, Physics, General Science OR two courses with labs in the same discipline
Communication - 6 semester hours
- English Composition or Writing - 1 course
- Interpersonal Communication - 1 course
- Communication Elective - 1 course (if needed to complete required hours)
Social Sciences - 6 semester hours
- Psychology - 1 course
- Sociology - 1 course
- Social Science Elective - 1 course (if needed to complete required hours)
Mathematics - 3 semester hours or 3 quarter hours
- Statistics preferred
Art - 3 semester hours or 3 quarter hours
- Art, Music OR Theater - 1 course
Foreign Language - 3 semester hours or 3 quarter hours
- Spanish preferred (or demonstrated year-long proficiency in a second language)
Humanities - 9 semester hours
- Ethics, History, Language, Literature, Media Arts, Philosophy AND/OR Religion
Dental Assisting or Dental Hygiene - 54 semester hours maximum
- Must be from an accredited dental assisting or dental hygiene program
Please Note:
- You must have completed a minimum total of 90 semester hours prior to starting the degree completion program.
- For credits to be counted, the course must be 100-level or higher.
- All prerequisite coursework must be completed at a regionally accredited institution.
Credit Conversion Information:
Quarter Hour x .667 = Semester Hour
Example A: 3 Quarter Hours x .667 = 2 Semester Hours
Example B: 4 Quarter Hours x .667 = 2.67 Semester Hours
