Re-entry Program

The School of Occupational Therapy offers a program of study for therapists who are re-entering the field of practice after a lapse in their professional license. (According to the Oregon Occupational Therapy Licensing Board, the lapse period is three years or more.) The program is offered to therapists at the professional level (OT 639) and at the technical level (OT 439) and requires both didactic and fieldwork components. Registration typically occurs in July and December for these online courses, typically offered in the fall and spring semesters. Enrollment is limited.

Sample course syllabi are available below:

Since this is an online course, a basic level of computer skills will be expected. You can brush up on your skills on the Learn Free website. This is just one site that is available; you may find others more helpful.

Admission to the Re-Entry Program

The Re-Entry Program is held twice a year, in Fall and Spring semesters. Registration for Fall semester is from July 1 to Aug. 15; registration for Spring semester is between Dec. 1 and Jan. 8.

Healthcare requirements must be complete before registration for this course will be accepted. This process can take up to two months, so please start right away if you are interested in this course.

Also, use this time between registration and the start of the course to order necessary textbooks.

The program is designed to be able to be completed in approximately four months.

The fieldwork component of the course has healthcare requirements. Please review these at the Certification Prerequisites link below, to assure compliance so that the fieldwork component can begin on schedule. The fieldwork component syllabus, prerequisites, and criminal history check forms are listed below. Please review.

All registered students enrolled in one or more credit hours are required to participate in the student health plan, and the premium is automatically billed on the tuition billing statement unless proof of comparable coverage is provided with the completed waiver form submitted by the first day of class. When you go to this website, click on the waiver process, then on the link to the semi-annual undergraduate/graduate link to get you to the correct form.

If you are applying for re-licensure in Oregon, please contact Felicia Holgate via email at Felicia.M.Holgate@state.or.us with the Oregon Occupational Therapy Licensing Board. It is recommended that you do the same if you are applying in a state other than Oregon.

Policy for Withdrawals
