Is the program accredited or certified?
Because the program is new, it will be seeking programmatic certification from the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA). Pacific University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).
Is a minimum GPA required to be admitted to the program?
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75. The Admissions Committee will review applications and evaluate each candidate from a comprehensive perspective that includes professional experience (resume or curriculum vitae), reference letters, and two personal essays. Do applicants need previous healthcare experience?
Yes. Applicants must have a minimum of two years experience (three years preferred) working in healthcare. See our Admissions Requirements for more information.
How long is the BHS program?
The BHS program takes a minimum of one year to complete, three continuous semesters.
How many hours a day is the program?
The BHS program is designed for the working professional using distance technology for course delivery. The number of hours each student may spend to study and prepare course assignments varies, but it is anticipated that the average amount of study time per day is approximately two and a half hours. Courses are offered as a cohort in a block schedule with 13-14 credits required per semester.
When can I begin the BHS program?
The first cohort will begin in late August 2014. Application materials are now available.
Will my coursework from another institution transfer?
Yes. Student transcripts will be reviewed and evaluated by the Admissions staff on an individual basis. Each student will have an opportunity to discuss transfer credits and total credits needed to complete Pacific's bachelor's degree requirements.
Is financial aid available?
Yes. Students need to complete the FAFSA online before applying for financial aid. The amount of financial aid each student is eligible to receive is determined on a case-by-case basis.
