Software

The following is a partial list of applications that are available for software development. All computer systems are dual-boot Windows 10 (64-bit) and OpenSUSE Leap 42.1 (64-bit).

  • Visual Studio Enterprise 
  • Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) — Free Professional Game Development Environment 
  • Microsoft SQL Server 
  • Eclipse IDE 
  • IntelliJ IDEA and Android Studio — Mobile Device Development
  • VirtualBox with Windows, OpenSUSE, and ArchLinux for various course projects 
  • Full suite of open-source development tools for Linux
  • Languages students will develop projects in include C++, C, Java, Python, and PHP

The computer science program at Pacific University is a member of the Microsoft Developers Network (MSDN); therefore, we are able to furnish students enrolled in computer science courses access to the full suite of Microsoft developer products and operating systems for free.

Hardware

Our computer science facilities consist of:

  • Intel Core i7 (6 Core / 12 Logical Processors)
  • Dual-monitor (2 Dell 24" LCDs) setup with each station 
  • 32 GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 Graphics Card 
  • 1 TB Solid State SATA III Hard Drives
