This is a free database provided as a courtesy by the Pacific University Library.
In the First Person is a landmark index to English-language personal narratives, including letters, diaries, memoirs, autobiographies, and oral histories. Working with archives, repositories, publishers, and individuals, it contains first-person narratives from hundreds of published volumes: those that are publicly available on the web and those that are held by repositories and archives around the world.
This database has access to
- approximately 675,000 pages of full-text by more than 15,000 different authors
- over 3,500 audio files
- 30,000 bibliographic records
- over 20,500 months of diary entries
- 63,000 letter entries and
- 17,000 oral history entries
The index will allow users to perform in-depth field and keyword searches across all letters, diaries, oral histories, memoirs, and autobiographies within Alexander Street Press databases, which has more than one million pages of editorially selected materials spanning 400 years.
Future updates will contain full-text sources and hundreds of thousands of bibliographic records.| URL: |
