Government Resources
The resources and databases below are not a comprehensive list of all available government resources, but should provide an excellent starting point for any searches that require government documents or statistics.
- USA.gov
The primary portal for government information.
- GPO Access
GPO Access is a service of the U.S. Government Printing Office that provides free electronic access to a wealth of important information products produced by the Federal Government. The information provided on this site is the official, published version and the information retrieved from GPO Access can be used without restriction, unless specifically noted.
Data.gov increases the ability of the public to easily find, download, and use datasets that
are generated and held by the Federal Government. Data.gov provides descriptions of the
Federal datasets (metadata), information about how to access the datasets, and tools that
leverage government datasets. The data catalogs will continue to grow as datasets are
added. Federal, Executive Branch data are included in the first version of Data.gov.
- Science.gov
Science.gov is a gateway to government science information and research results. Currently in its fifth generation, Science.gov provides a search of over 42 scientific databases and 200 million pages of science information with just one query, and is a gateway to over 2000 scientific Websites.
- U.S. Census Bureau
The Census Bureau is the leading source of statistical data about the U.S. population and economy. Of particular interest is the Statistical Abstract of the United States.
