Tom Beck: Life in & around Bates House

Tom Beck, dean of Pacific's College of Arts and Sciences for 12 years, will retire this summer. Beck lists as a strength his use and understanding of quantitative measurements to gauge progress in the College, but those who have worked with him insist that numbers cannot tell the whole story of Beck''s impact on the University.

Speaking out on war: Students respond to events in Iraq

As marchers, both for and against the war in Iraq, took to the streets across the U.S., students at Pacific University also wanted to express their views. Making sure the campus was respectful of the different perspectives and wide range of feelings was crucial, said Dean of Students Eva Krebs.
