Rich Burk '88 is the voice of the Hillsboro Hops, Oregon's newest Minor League Baseball team. Get a sneak peek at his path from Pacific University in a new Boxer Tale video.Jenni Luckett | Editor
I love baseball.
I love the traditions and superstition, the math and the chance, the dirt and the grass.
So, when I found out that one of our alumni, Rich Burk ’88, was the new radio announcer for the Minor League Hillsboro Hops, naturally, I thought, “How can I make the most of this?”
And I’m glad I did.
Though it was painfully hot the night we visited Burk in the booth, it was awesome to see what goes on behind the scenes.
You can read more about Burk’s path from Pacific University to the Hops in the fall issue of Pacific magazine, publishing in late October.
But since baseball season will be over by then, we thought you might like a sneak peek today. Check out this Boxer Tale video about Burk. And be sure to catch his play-by-play live on Fox Sports Radio 620, and take a look at his blog at www.RichBurk.MLBlogs.com. The Hops are back at home tonight (Aug. 8) for the first of 14 home games this month.
