Picnics in the park provide summer meals for kids

The Forest Grove Summer Food Program creates a community gathering where children can eat and play every day. And Pacific University staff and alumni are right there to help.

“It’s great for kids, but there’s also something else happening. People come together to give, building a community of giving and gratitude.”

The Forest Grove Summer Food Program is always looking for additional financial, in-kind or volunteer support. Financial support will provide additional food on Fridays and throughout the month of August, as well as food for parents or adult caregivers who accompany the children. Beggs said the program could use funding or volunteers to help with advertising. In addition, volunteers always are needed to help deliver and serve food, start new sites and provide activities for children. To get involved, email alice.beggs@gmail.com.
