Golf Tournament 'Legendary'
$75,000 Raised for Boxer Athletics
Tommy Thayer, KISS lead guitarist and Pacific Board of Trustees member, wanted the first Pacific Legends Golf Tournament to really “rock” as an event and as a fundraiser for the Pacific athletics.
So, Thayer and a team from the Athletics department and University Advancement brought in some 160 golfers, including nearly two dozen PGA pros, former professional athletes, and showbusiness celebrities for a great day of golf, an auction and a party at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. The result: a good time was had by all, the event drew major media attention and netted $75,000 for Pacific’s 20 sports teams.
Work has already begun on next year event.
“The event exceeded all our expectations,” Director of Athletics Ken Schumann said. “Based on what we envisioned, I don’t think things could have gone any better. The feedback I’m getting is it was tremendous, first class in every way,” said Schumann.
