Is the program accredited?

The MHA program is included in Pacific University’s accreditation status by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

Do I need a completed Bachelor’s degree to apply?

You must have a Bachelor’s degree awarded before matriculation into the MHA program.

Do you require a minimum GPA to apply to the program?

You must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 for your cumulative GPA and the last 45 semester hours.  Admission to the program is competitive so the Admissions Committee will review applications and evaluate each candidate from a comprehensive perspective.  Professional experience, reference letters, and personal essay will be evaluated and weighted equally with GPA.

Do you look at previous healthcare experience?

One of the requirements for admission to the MHA program is that you must have a minimum of two years experience (3 years preferred) in healthcare or business.

How long is the MHA program?

The MHA program takes a minimum of two years to complete, six continuous semesters.

How many hours a day is the program?

The MHA program is designed for the working professional. The program is blended so students spend time working online and then attending classes on Friday evenings and Saturdays, alternating weekends.

When can I begin the MHA program?

Each fall semester a new cohort of 15-20 students begins the MHA program. The program only admits students once a year for the fall semester.

When is my application due?

*Apply by our Preferred Application Deadline (June 1) to have your application considered early in our rolling admissions process.  In addition, if your complete application (including application form, essay, reference letters and official transcripts) is received by June 1, we will waive your $25 application fee!

Will my coursework from another institution transfer?

The Masters of Healthcare Administration Program will consider accepting transfer credit only after an applicant has been admitted into the program and careful review of all available information. Transfer credits will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and no more than a total of six semester credit hours will be accepted. Transfer credits must be at the graduate level and a grade no lower than a B must have been achieved. The course instructor and MHA Program Director will determine that the content of the course (based on syllabus documentation) is appropriate through review of the Transfer of Credit Application that the student must complete and submit to the MHA Program. In no case will credit be given for previous work that has not been graded or formally evaluated; therefore, courses taken on a pass/no pass basis will not be transferred. Internships, experiential learning, and independent study courses also are not transferrable. Course prerequisites, course descriptions, and course syllabi from the previous institution, hours completed, transcripts, and other significant information will be used in making a decision.

Is financial aid available?

The following sources of financial aid are available to MHA students, though not all students will receive all types.

 

Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) Stafford Loans

Masters students can borrow up to $20,400 in a combination of subsidized and unsubsidized loans. Funds from participating lenders and the interest rate is fixed at 6.8%.

 

Alternative Loans

These are loans offered by lenders and institutions for educational expenses. These loans are not guaranteed student loans. Lenders and institutions have varying credit approval criteria that must be met by loan applicants. These loans have a variable interest rate.

Federal Graduate Plus Loans

These loans are also offered by lenders and institutions for educational expenses and have varying credit approval criteria that must be met by the loan applicants. These loans are fixed at 8.5%.
