University and Forest Grove City Library welcome Oregon Poet Laureate Paulann Petersen to Forest Grove on Tuesday evening, Oct. 4

Petersen, Oregon's sixth Poet Laureate, will visit with guests and read from her work.



Pacific University and the Forest Grove City Library welcome Paulann Petersen, Oregon's sixth Poet Laureate, on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

A reception will take place at 6 p.m. in the Rogers Room of the city library (2114 Pacific Ave.), and will be followed by a reading and book signing at 7 p.m. in the Forest Grove Community Auditorium (1915 Main Street).

The events, free and open to the public, are sponsored by the Friends of the Forest Grove City Library and Pacific University's College of Arts & Sciences, Department of English and English Club.

Petersen has authored five books of poetry, is a former Stegner Fellow at Stanford University and the recipient of Holbrook Award from Oregon Literary Arts.

Former Governor Ted Kulongoski appointed Petersen Oregon's sixth Poet Laureate in April 2010.

Her work has appeared on Poetry Daily and can often be read on TriMet's buses and MAX train cars through the state's Poetry in Motion initiative.
