Boxers prepare for Spirit Night on Saturday

Fans encouraged to wear black apparel in support of Pacific basketball teams on annual alumni Spirit Night event

It is certain to be a festive atmosphere at the Stoller Center as the Pacific men’s and women’s basketball teams come home for their annual Spirit Night event on Sat., Feb. 4.

The annual event, sponsored by Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (STAT), will run all evening with special contests and giveaways and halftime contests and events.

The Boxers’ basketball teams will take on Willamette that night, with the women’s game beginning at 6 p.m. and the men’s game commencing at 8 p.m.

In addition, students and fans are encouraged to wear black to the game to create a “black out” to show their support for the basketball teams.

Special events and giveaways at Spirit Night include…

• Free megaphones filled with popcorn for the first 50 attendees at both the women’s and men’s games.

• A chance to win special Spirit Night prizes, including a Pacific Spirit basket (no purchase necessary).

• Halftime hoop shoot contest at halftime of the women’s basketball game.

• Performance by local youth dance troupe “Evolution” at halftime of the men’s basketball game.

In addition, FourSquare users who “check-in” to the Stoller Center at Spirit Night will be entered into a special drawing for a Spirit Night prize.

The contests will be critical for both hoops teams as the Boxers will finish the year with four of their final home games at the Stoller Center.

The Pacific women enter the week with a 10-8 overall record and a 3-7 Northwest Conference record.

The Boxer men enter the week with an 8-11 overall record and a 2-8 conference mark.

Both teams play at George Fox on Friday night.

Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow is a student group that works with the Pacific University alumni office to foster traditions and school spirit to promote a positive experience, build pride and loyalty to create future alumni leaders, encourage interaction between students and alumni and provide members with leadership opportunities.
