Pacific Employees Give Back in Multiple Ways
Pacific takes an important step on the way to reaching annual giving goals.
As of April 1, more than half of Pacific faculty and staff members have donated to the University.
The goal for this fiscal year, which ends June 30, is to receive donations from 66 percent of Pacific employees.
Pacific has been a consistent leader in the Northwest Conference member institutions for faculty and staff giving numbers. Pacific tied Willamette for first place last year with 57 percent of Pacific’s full-time employees making a gift. Pacific was first for employee giving in 2009 and 2010.
According to Meredith Brynteson, assistant director of Annual Giving, Pacific employees’ donations not only help fund University programs, but also illustrate the strong sense of community and dedication to outside supporters.
With faculty and staff giving numbers so high, it is easy for parents, alumni, academic community members and potential donors to understand the commitment Pacific’s employees have toward the University.
“It shows that this is something we care about,” Brynteson said. “There are so many of us that care beyond what we do during the work day. Donating is just another way we give back.”
"it’s an easy way to support all the things our students do,” she said.
Because only 80 percent of Pacific’s operating costs are covered by tuition, Pacific students reap the benefit of donations every day while they’re in school.
“I wouldn’t have been able to go to school here without scholarships,” said Brynteson, who graduated from Pacific in 2008. “We hope students recognize how many people helped them during their time here.”
The Annual Giving staff tries to make donating fun. Pacific employees are divided into committees that meet every other month and compete between each other.
Employees have a variety of options when it comes to giving. They can have a donation deducted from their paycheck, make a gift online by visiting pacificu.edu/giving or write a check. All donations can be designated to a specific program they feel passionate about or can simply go toward the area of greatest need.
Donations from faculty, staff, students, community members and alumni help Pacific provide a top-notch education.
