Students within Pacific University's colleges of Education, Health Professions and Optometry celebrated their future careers with their families and friends at Commencement in Lincoln Park Stadium on Saturday.
Sixty-seven College of Education students graduated with a master of arts in teaching, master of education or master of arts in education degree.
Twenty-seven students were hooded for earning a master of occupational therapy degree, including Director Award recipient Victoria (Tori) Eaton.
An additional 93 students earned a doctor of pharmacy degree, 40 a doctor of physical therapy and 89 a doctor of optometry degrees, including 69 year-old Norm Smith.
President Lesley Hallick expressed admiration for the graduates. "An advanced degree is something you should be very proud of," she said. "With it, you have an opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of many."
Also providing inspiring words to the graduates was Dr. Stanley J. Yamane, a 1965 alumnus of Pacific who earned his doctor of optometry from the school the following year. Yamane was named the 2012 recipient of the Kamelia Massih Prize for a Distinguished Optometrist.
