Pacific plans Homecoming 2012
Alumni, students and friends of Pacific are invited to come home and celebrate Sept. 28-30.
Pacific University alumni are coming home to the Forest Grove and Hillsboro campuses Friday, Sept. 28, through Sunday, Sept. 30, for Homecoming 2012.
All alumni, friends of the University and students are encouraged to participate in the fall festivities.
The centerpiece of the event is the Saturday football game, in which the Boxers face conference rivals, the Whitworth Pirates. Students will raise excitement for the big game with Noise Parade, a bonfire and a rally Friday evening. There will be private tailgating and a ticketed Boxer Nation Celebration for all ages before the game Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
Throughout the weekend, several groups also will host reunions. The class of 1962 celebrates its 50-year reunion and will be inducted into the Golden Guard. The classes of 1952 and 1967 also are planning reunion activities, as are the College of Arts & Sciences class of 2002, the School of Occupational Therapy’s classes of 1987, 1992 and 2002 and the College of Optometry’s classes of 1977, 1992 and 2002. Pacific also will host its first ever choir alumni reunion for all past or current students who have participated in choir—or who just love to sing.
Homecoming 2012 participants will have the chance to take campus tours and attend open houses in Forest Grove and Hillsboro, and they also can get out into the community with local winery tours scheduled Friday and Saturday.
Homecoming 2011 drew more than 1,300 registered participants and a crowd of about 3,000 to the football game, where the Boxers scored the first win since football was reinstated at Pacific in 2010.
* Families are welcome at the Homecoming & Reunion Weekend festivities. However, a special Family Weekend will also be held for current students’ families to visit on Oct. 12-14.
