Emerald Empire Reading Council November Event

November 19, 2012 from 4-6 at the Lane ESD Book It! Use All Kinds of Handmade Books to Motivate Writing

2 Concurrent Sessions Presented by Karen Antikajian and Betty Shoemaker
Learn to make all kinds of folded and bound books that your students can use to
display their writing. What better way to motivate students to write AND to revise?
Karen will present Session A with many basic and simple books (such as
poof, accordion, step, stick & elastic, plus person, magic, envelope, lunch sack). In
Session B, Betty will challenge experienced bookmakers with more complex
books (made with paper bags, origami folded pages, empty thread spools, and pop-up
pages), along with unique ways to bind and decorate them. Come to have fun and
create lots of samples to use with your students.
