Two new articles up on BCIS Interface

The Berglund Center for Internet Studies has published two new articles for the Interface online journal.

The Berglund Center for Internet Studies is proud to showcase the thoughts and ideas of others through Interface, a journal of education, community and values.

Recently, an article was written by Dr. Vera Parham titled “Learning Something New Everyday: One History Professor’s Journey Through Online Education.” In this article, Dr. Parham discusses the positive and negative outcomes of undertaking online coursework, or eLearning, through her own experiences. The article can be read here.

Our newest article, titled “Technology and Literacy in Early Childhood Education,” was written by education majors and last year’s graduating seniors Amy Jones, Kelsey Major, Melissa Preston, Aimee Stanaland and Yangyang Teng. They are the recipients of the 2012 Berglund Center Excellence in Internet Research Award, also known as the Senior Capstone Award. The article was written as their final paper for their senior research project which encompasses technology used by children 3 to 6 years old from the Early Learning Center and how these forms of technology might support literacy. Read the full article here.

The Berglund Center facilitates both theoretical discussion and practical action relating to the impact of the Internet upon individuals and their communities worldwide. We are interested in the effects of the Internet on the ways we work, communicate, teach and learn. It is endowed through a generous gift from Pacific University alumni Mary and James Berglund of La Jolla, Calif.
