Staffing changes at Student Counseling Center

Dr. Jeff Guardalabene and Dr. Babak Govan are leaving Pacific to pursue new non-university careers. This will result in several staff changes at the Counseling Center and Campus Wellness, and we will strive to minimize the disruption to services.

Dr. Jeff Guardalabene, staff psychologist, has decided to leave Pacific to pursue new career interests. Dr. Jeff’s last day was Oct. 5. Dr. Babak Govan, staff therapist, has also decided to leave the university after Oct. 16 to expand his practice with a community health provider. We hope you will join us in wishing them well in their new endeavors. As a result of these unanticipated departures, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Joselyne Perry, campus wellness coordinator, has agreed to move into a staff psychologist position at the Student Counseling Center. We will begin a national search immediately to fill our campus wellness coordinator position, and have already begun the process of identifying candidates to fulfill the remaining therapist vacancy.

Please note that Joselyne will continue to provide advocacy, education and support for survivors of unwanted sexual contact. Students and faculty/staff may still contact Joselyne through 503-352-CARE (2273) for assistance and information until we have hired and trained a new campus wellness coordinator. Pacific's student wellness educators will work with Joselyne to continue the development of campus educational programming in the areas of healthy relationships, responsible alcohol use, substance use harm reduction and relaxation/stress management. We have established a new collaboration with student multicultural interests to offer a wellness educator focused on issues of cultural sensitivity. If you or your organization are interested in seeking educational programming in these areas, please contact Campus Wellness to learn more!

The Student Counseling Center and Campus Wellness will strive to minimize the disruption of this transition on student services. Thank you for your patience.
