2013-2014 Faculty Fellowship Award Application

April 1 is the deadline to submit Berglund Center for Internet Studies' Faculty Research Fellowship proposals for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The Berglund Center for Internet Studies at Pacific University seeks fellowship proposals from Pacific University staff or faculty members for 2013–2014.

Up to three successful applicants will be named as Berglund Fellows for the 2013–2014 academic year and have access to the facilities of the center, including student assistance based on availability and need. The fellowships will be in the amount of $3,500 each, and the fellowship will be awarded jointly to the Fellow and his or her school or department.

This year's fellow is Brent Johnson, an associate professor in the English Department and Writing Resource Center director. His proposal is to create and facilitate a literature course in which students at Pacific engage in a cross-cultural exchange over selected, common texts via the Internet.

The Berglund Center for Internet Studies is willing to participate in forming proposals in the early stages. Completed proposals must be received by April 1, 2013.

The bulk of the research for these fellowships will take place during either the fall term of 2013, spring of 2014, or both. All projects are related to the use of the Internet. All inquiries are welcome at floydta@pacificu.edu. In the subject line, please place "Berglund Fellowship".

The Berglund Center at Pacific University facilitates both theoretical discussion and practical action relating to the impact of the Internet upon individuals and their communities worldwide. We study the effects of the Internet on the ways we work, communicate, teach and learn. The Berglund Center for Internet Studies was endowed in 2000 by a generous gift from Pacific University alumni Drs. Mary and James Berglund of La Jolla, California.

The Berglund Center for Internet Studies is the single source of support for faculty, student and staff Internet-related research and publications, which spans all academic units of Pacific University.
