Call for Workshops: 3rd Pacific Undergraduate Leadership Conference
Pacific Undergraduate Leadership Conference seeks workshops from any faculty, staff or student. Proposals are due Jan. 25. The conference, held Saturday, Feb. 9, features a keynote by filmmaker Eliaichi Kimaro, whose film airs on PBS in January.
The Undergraduate Student Senate sponsors its third Leadership Conference Saturday, Feb. 9. Students value interactive workshops or roundtable discussions on any topic relevant to leadership — from team-building to wellness, marketing to interpersonal communication, event planning to career building, civic engagement and cultural competence. The conference provides faculty, staff and students a forum to engage in learning about leadership, outside the context of specific courses, clubs or organizations. The conference theme chosen by student leaders, "Oh, the Places You'll Go," reflects this diversity of leadership's means and ends.
To offer your program, please email a Workshop or Roundtable Proposal form to email@example.com by Friday, Jan. 25, for optimal scheduling and inclusion in pre-conference marketing. Late proposals will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 1. Last year's conference program contains workshop descriptions offered by faculty, staff and students as prior examples. A paper version of the Workshop Proposal form is also available at http://vault.pacificu.edu/departments/Student%20Life/SAM/public/PULC/.
Eliaichi Kimaro will deliver the conference keynote address. Her award-winning documentary, A Lot Like You, won accolades from the National Association of Mixed Student Organizations for "reaching across many boundaries of personal narrative; identity; political, social, and gender issues; and cross-cultural and interracial experiences." A version of Kimaro's film premiers on PBS stations nationwide Jan. 22 as part of the series AfroPoP. Though Oregon Public Broadcasting does not carry the series on that date, the full version of A Lot Like You will screen on campus Friday, Feb. 8, the night before the conference.
Registration information and additional conference details will be posted on the university website soon. Questions may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
