Notes From Under the Oaks
Somehow we blinked and the New Year is now just two weeks away. This has got us thinking about all the new things we expect in 2013. It also has us wondering, what's new with you?
Perhaps the most exciting new development in our office is the addition of Ginger Moshofsky who serves as assistant director and will focus on event planning. Ginger comes to us with a fantastic background in events, including a recent stint at Reed College in Portland. You can read more about Ginger in a blog post she wrote to celebrate her arrival.
Also in the category of “new” is our office opening in January on Ala Moana Boulevard in Honolulu, Hawaii. We’re looking forward to sharing in the celebration with many of our Oahu alumni on Saturday, January 26. The new Hawaii office will allow for natural collaborations between Pacific University and academic partners, including community colleges, universities and professional schools.
We’re also looking forward to a big change in the way alumni may get involved at Pacific. We’ve just developed a new structure for the leadership of the alumni association, which will provide limitless ways for alumni to become involved in directly supporting programs and initiatives about which they are passionate.
We hope to see some new names in the 2013 Alumni Awards nomination pool. The awards deadline of December 31 is rapidly approaching. We hope you’ll take the time over the next few weeks to complete a nomination form and write us a letter about an alumnus who is deserving of the Young Alumni Leadership Award, the David & Sandy Lowe Outstanding Alumni Service Award or the Alumni Achievement Award. Start your nomination now!
Finally, we really do want to know, what’s new with you? What is your New Year’s resolution? Are you hoping to retire? Start a new job? Buy a home? Sell a home? Get married? Finish graduate school? Welcomed a new baby? Welcome a new grandbaby? Welcome a new pet? Send us a note and tell us all about it!
As always, please keep in touch! Send us your stories and don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance.
Happy holidays and best wishes,
Martha Calus-McLain ‘03
