Time to File Your 2013-2014 FAFSA
FAFSA on the Web for 2013-2014 became available Jan. 1. Apply for financial aid for next year as soon as possible for the best chance of receiving limited federal funds.
If you plan to be a Pacific student in 2013-2014, submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online (at www.fafsa.gov) as soon as possible.
As in previous years, we will use March 1 as the priority FAFSA filing deadline for consideration for what's called campus-based aid (federal work-study, federal supplemental educational opportunity grant, and federal Perkins loan), but there are a couple of important reasons to submit your FAFSA earlier.
First, the FAFSA filing deadline for Oregon Opportunity Grant consideration is Feb. 1. For that reason, all Oregon resident undergraduates should submit their FAFSAs in January.
Second, due to the federal budget challenges you've read and heard about, Pacific could see a decrease in our campus-based aid allocations for 2013-2014 — which could mean that we will be unable to award those funds to all eligible students. If that happens and we have to use FAFSA date order as a criterion for awarding those limited funds, you'll want to be near the top of that list!
Remember, you can provide an estimate of your 2012 income on your FAFSA if you don't yet have actual figures. Most FAFSA filers will be able to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool after they file their federal income tax returns to update the income they reported on the FAFSA. We will use the date you originally submitted a valid FAFSA as your application date.
