Berglund Roundtable Discussion on March 5 CCB Accredited

The Berglund Center for Internet Studies presents its first Roundtable for the Spring 2013 Series. "Privacy and Security in a New World of Health Information Technology" is set for March 5, approved for CCB Credits.

The Berglund Center for Internet Studies is presenting its first Roudntable event of the Spring 2013 Series from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5 in HPC2 Atrium Room 175, Health Professions Campus, Hillsboro. The discussion is titled Privacy and Security in a New World of Health Information Technology and will be presented by Lynne Shoemaker.

In this new age of health information exchange, what are the privacy and security concerns that providers and patients should be concerned about? Shoemaker's discussion encompasses the recent technological advancements of the medical field, particularly in patient information gathering and sharing. The discussion addresses the potential privacy and security concerns providers and patients need to know about in a world where data is exchanged for treatment and payment purposes. Should your privacy be at risk in order to improve the quality of healthcare?

Lynne Shoemaker, RHIA, CHP, CHC has more than 25 years of experience in health information management with expertise in state and federal legal compliance, Health Information Exchange (HIE), federal contractor and grant requirements, and disaster recovery preparedness. She is AHIMA credentialed, certified in Healthcare Compliance by the HCCA, and HIT-Pro-Trainer certified by the Office of the National Coordinator. She is currently the Integrity Officer at OCHIN, Inc., one of the nation's largest health information and technology Organized Healthcare Arrangement networks. OCHIN, Inc., headquartered in Portland, Ore., is recognized for its innovative use of of Helath IT to improve the integration and delivery of healthcare services.

This Roundtable discussion has been approved for ONE (1) HOUR continuing education units from the Compliance Certification Board (CCB). A CCB Certificate of Attendance will be distributed to all attendees. Attendees are each solely responsible for attaining a copy of the certificate and reporting the credits.
