The Lu`au is a collaborative effort of Pacific students, including NHOH Hawai'i Club members, faculty, staff, local community members, businesses, and family members at home in Hawai’i. Many students’ parents come from the Islands a week in advance to make leis and put together decorations.

NHOH was founded in 1959 with 16 students. By 1962, more than 60 student club members represented the eight islands of Hawai'i.

The club now boasts more than 300 members and is now open to anyone interested in learning more about the Hawaiian culture.

Sudents actively share their island traditions by performing various functions both on and off the University campus.

Students from Hawaii comprise 20 percent of the student body at Pacific University.

The Lu`au is a fundraiser for NHOH community service projects and club activities.
