Audiology Faculty Member Named to National Board

Shilpi Banerjee to serve on American Academy of Audiology Board of Directors beginning July 1.

Shilpi Banerjee, director of clinical education at Pacific University’s School of Audiology, has been elected to a three-year term on the American Academy of Audiology Board of Directors, effective July 1. 

Banerjee, who joined Pacific’s faculty last year, has been active in the academy for several years. 

The American Academy of Audiology is the world’s largest professional organization of audiologists, with an active membership of more than 11,000.

The academy strives to provide quality hearing care through professional development, education, research and increased public awareness of hearing and balance disorders. 

Banerjee was also recently awarded the “Honors of the Academy” by the Minnesota Academy of Audiology for outstanding service. Banerjee served as president in 2011, and other accomplishments included recruiting members and volunteers, fundraising and initiating a community-based student mentorship program.

Prior to coming to Pacific University, Banerjee was a research audiologist for several years in the medical devices industry. She has also served as an instructor at Northwestern University and Northern Illinois University, has published many scientific articles and presented at numerous national and international conferences.

Banerjee holds a doctorate in communication sciences and disorders, and a master’s degree in audiology and hearing sciences from Northwestern University. She also possesses a bachelor’s degree in audiology and speech therapy T.N. Medical College, Bombay University in India.
