Family Needs Student Volunteer for Elderly Parent
A family in Hillsboro wants to supplement their elderly parent's physical therapy with a student volunteer for approximately three hours a week.
Interested in physical therapy or other health professions?
A local family is seeking a student volunteer for about 3 hours a week as a companion for their elderly parent. This 87-year old gentleman has a physical therapist who comes in on a regular basis, but they would like someone to go out for walks and keep him company at other times to augment his physical therapy. The gentleman lives in Hillsboro at Cornell Estates, so the right student will have his or her own transportation. Ideally, this person could start volunteering as soon as possible and continue through the summer and into next year, but the family knows about the Pacific calendar and can be flexible for the right student.
This is a great way to connect with a local family and gain experience that would be useful in any health profession. If you continue this work next fall, it could fulfill your Civic Engagement Cornerstone requirement if you sign up for CIV-110.
