Pacific University Announces 20th Annual Performing Arts Series
The five-show lineup features a mix of performances, including specialty guitar, a cappella, Scottish and Cajun music. Individual and season ticket packages are now available.
An eclectic mix of music highlights Pacific University's 20th annual Performing Arts Series presented by Tuality Healthcare, Aramark Dining Services and the Best Western University Inn & Suites.
The five-show lineup begins on Oct. 27 and continues through April 5. All performances take place in the Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center on the Forest Grove Campus.
Hawaiian slack guitarist Keola Beamer kicks off the series on Sunday, Oct. 27 with a 3 p.m. matinee performance. Beamer has recorded or produced more than 20 albums and numerous hit songs, including Honolulu City Lights, one of the best-selling recordings in Hawaiian music history.
Acoustic guitar duo Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett of the rock band Little Feat will delight attendees with songs from the band's catalog and more on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Groove For Thought, a seven-member a cappella vocal group, will perform classic tunes in a unique jazz style on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. In 2010, the group was selected to perform in NBC's highly rated vocal competition "The Sing-Off." Together since 2000, several members are experienced music teachers throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Scottish band Tannahill Weavers will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 1. The group's diverse repertoire features fire-driven instrumentals, topical songs, original ballads and lullabies. Tannahill Weavers' harmonies and arrangements have resulted in popularity beyond the folk and Celtic music scenes. The band is a member of the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame.
Courtbouillon, a trio of Cajun style musicians, will perform folk songs as timeless to Cajuns as the Star Spangled Banner is to much of America on Saturday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Subscription packages, including full ensemble and mini packages, as well as tickets to individual performances are now on sale.
Discounts are also available for senior citizens 55 and better, and youths 12 and under.
