Faculty, Staff Must Complete Online OSHA Training

Link to online training was sent to individuals by email Oct. 14. Complete training by Nov. 1.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) within the US Department of Labor has recently revised its Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) to align with the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals in the workplace.

To comply with federal law, all employees of an organization are required to be trained on the new GHS communication standards for potentially hazardous materials in the workplace by Dec. 1, 2013.

On Monday, Oct. 14, you should have received an individual email message containing a unique web link to an online training session on the new GHS. The session will take about 20 minutes and will be recorded in your employee records to satisfy OSHA requirements.

Faculty and staff of Pacific University at all locations must complete the online training no later than Friday, Nov. 1, 2013. If this training is not complete and recorded in your employee file by the OSHA deadline of Dec. 1, your supervisor will be notified and a scheduled time will be set up for you to complete the training.

More information about this OSHA requirement can be obtained here. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Environmental Health & Safety Manager Bob Black at 503-352-3063 or bob.black@pacificu.edu.
