John Hayes Appointed to Oregon Task Force on School Funding

The former dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and current director of the Center for a Sustainable Society is one of nine citizens and joins two state senators and two representatives.



Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber has named Pacific University's John Hayes to a newly formed state Task Force on School Funding.
Hayes served as the dean of the university's College of Arts & Sciences from 2003-12 and currently serves as the director of the institution's Center for a Sustainable Society.
A resident of Forest Grove, Hayes has been an active member of the Forest Grove School Board since 2012 and has taken a leadership role on addressing the challenges of funding gaps within the district. 
Hayes is one of nine citizens statewide to join two state senators and two representatives on the 13-member committee. The Oregon Legislature approved formation of the task force last July to study school funding formulas and make recommendations on possible changes to how money for schools is distributed.  
The task force is charged with submitting a report to the interim committees of the Legislative
Assembly related to education no than October 1, 2014.
