Dec. 17, 2013

Dear Faculty and Staff,

As we enter the season of giving, I am reminded how grateful I am for Pacific University’s dedicated faculty and staff. Your generosity is extraordinary, with 63 percent of you making a gift to the university this last year.

I realize that Pacific is probably only one of a number of charitable and non-profit entities that you support. One way to make your gifts to community organizations, including Pacific, is through the United Way.

When you make a gift through the United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, you are able to designate it to their primary mission, which has been focused to help break the cycle of child poverty, or you may directly designate it to any non-profit organization.

This includes any area at Pacific University, or groups such as Adelante Mujeres, the Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation, the Forest Grove Library FoundationWork for ArtEarthshare or others of your choice. The United Way will give 100 percent of your designated donation to the non-profit you choose without taking a cent for overhead costs.

I serve on the Board of Directors at the United Way of the Columbia-Willamette and can attest to the outstanding work they do for our local community every day. I assure you that your gift to the United Way is completely confidential and I will not have access to the records of those who choose to participate.

I hope you will join me and consider making a gift to the United Way this holiday season. This form provides details on how you can do so.

Warmest regards,

Lesley M. Hallick, PhD
President, Pacific University
