Pacific University Music Department Presents The Wedding Planner

The Wedding Planner, April 26 and 27, 7:30 in McCready Hall

Featuring an all student cast!

Pacific University Music Department presents  “The Wedding Planner”, W.A. Mozart’s Opera la finta giardiniera, with a contemporary spin: featuring an all student cast!

Written by an 18 year old Mozart, la finta giardiniera  was not known in its complete Italian form until the 1970’s…prior to its discovery, the opera was produced in German with spoken German dialogue. In this production, we present a new twist: Lush Italian arias, spoken English dialogue, and a contemporary setting to show that the trials and tribulations of Mozart’s characters of the 18th century are viable and still laughable in the 21st Century…especially if you read the Tabloids!

When the curtain rises, Actress Violet Onesti has been knocked out by her lover in a jealous rage…as she goes undercover in the Hamptons searching for her fleeing lover, a string of mistaken identities and misunderstood love triangles tangle and untangle. Discover if the star-crossed lovers will end up together, and who else will find their perfect match along the way, all while hearing beautiful music!

Stage Direction by Andy Christensen, Music Direction by Anne McKee Reed, and performed with piano decadence by Janet Coleman.

Performances are Saturday April 26th and Sunday April  27th at 7:30 pm in McCready Hall. It is free to Pacific students with ID, $5 for children, and seniors, and $7 for general admission.
