Pacific MFA in Writing Summer Internship

The January 2014 intern team: Bruno Gegenhuber, Bri Castellini, Rebecca Allen, Kathlene Rhode

At the MFA residency, students and faculty gather for 10 days of craft talks, readings, classes and workshops offered by award-winning authors. Four lucky undergraduates get to intern and sit in.

Are you a creative writing major or minor at Pacific? Do you want to rub shoulders with some of the writing world's biggest talents? Then the summer MFA in Writing Internship is definitely the place you should be. The responsibilities are simple; driving faculty and students around in Pacific University vans, preparing rooms for presentations & distributing handouts, running errands, and assisting in set-up and tear-down of events. However, as an intern you get nearly unfettered access to all craft talks and readings given by MFA faculty, all of whom are published writers in either poetry, nonfiction, fiction, or some combination therein. Having personally interned with this program two years in a row, I can say with confidence that if you love writing, the 10 day internship will go by so quickly you'll wonder if the time-space continuum is broken. It's a truly incredible opportunity to sit in on graduate-level lectures and speak directly to writers who have made their passion their career.
