The Berglund Center has recently been notified of a need for up to ten teachers of English in China, beginning in late February 2010. An additional thirty-plus teachers will be hired for Fall 2010. The only requirement is a completed MAT or MAE degree in any field of specialization.

The positions are through a Provincial level department which has placed recent Pacific University graduates teaching in China for several years and has been completely reliable. For more information, go to: http://mcel.pacificu.edu/teachinchina/  See the particular reference to MAT/MAE candidates at: http://mcel.pacificu.edu/teachinchina/program.php

The positions pay a generous salary by Chinese standards, (more than enough on which to live comfortably), airfare for the teacher (but not for family members) and housing. Families are welcome, and spouses with college degrees could very likely find additional employment in China on the open market. Education loans continue to accrue, but payments usually stop for the period of employment.

If you are interested, please contact Jeffrey Barlow, barlowj@pacificu.edu.  Please write “China Teaching” in the subject line to ensure quick handling. An extensive interview and a one-day orientation program will be required before application for the February start. Time is growing short. The application deadline is November 15.

Anyone interested in the fall start should also indicate interest in applying by Nov. 15. An orientation class will begin in February for this group.

This notice in no manner constitutes a contract, as conditions could possibly change before formal contracts are signed with the Chinese schools. However, no changes have yet occurred after such contracts have been signed with this Chinese agency.
