Notes from Under the Oaks

What about Pacific University makes you most proud?

This is one of four questions Pacific's new president Dr. Lesley Hallick is presenting the Pacific University community. I've had the honor of hearing the answer to this question from countless alumni, parents and friends as we have travled to areas with the greatest populations of Pacific constituents (Portland, Eugene, Seattle and Honolulu).

The ease with which speakers present their answers is in itself a reason for pride, but the answers themselves are quite powerful.

This list could go on indefinitley.

As Dr. Hallick considers the future of the University she has provided a unique opportunity for involvement by University constituents in the creation of a plan for the future. Because alumni hold an incredible stake in the future of the University opportunities have been created for personal exchange with the president.

Many of these events have already taken place and and we head to New York City and Washington D.C. next week. Events will take place in California and Bend, Ore. in the early part of 2010 with dates still to be determined.

Alumni who are not able to present their ideas in person can express them via the web, by answering Dr. Hallick's questions in a brief electronic survey.

We look forward to celebrating the holidays with alumni in Portland, Eugene and Seattle and will be back on the Islands again in January.

As always, we hope to see you soon!

Best wishes,
