Letter from the Editor

Something like that.

Welcome back, everyone.  Little has happened since last we met, but that doesn't mean we have little to discuss.  For example, I made mashed potatoes last night that literally made me shout "Whoa!"  I've never made anything that surprised me so pleasantly, though my homemade orange/carrot/celery smoothie left me equivalently shocked in a negative way.  Also, some of you may be wondering how the Halloween presentation was this year and how we did in the campus-wide contest.  It wasn't and we didn't.  The COE decided to take a well-deserved Halloween hiatus this year.  But don't worry, we will be back next year.  Now, news.

It's interesting how my brief blurb about the lost & found last week has affected the COE.  Now, not only are folks not claiming their lost items, but they're losing stuff at an accelerated rate.  This is alarming and must stop before the lost & found completely takes over my entire desk.

I received some input from the MAT 5th Year group regarding how they'd like their portion of student bulletin board in the lobby divided.  There will be equal sections for ECE/Elem, Elem/MS, and MS/HS.  Flex and Special Ed students, I am presently planning to draw lines on your sections to simply divide them in half.  Please let me know if that's not acceptable.

Student teachers-to-be, I will soon be sending out another round of reminders regarding which of your test results and/or other documents we are still missing.  It's a monstrous process to get all of those emails out so I would appreciate it if you could get your loose ends tied up before I start sending the emails.  But more importantly, you can't go and teach without that stuff, so get it done.

Alums, please check out the newly revamped "Job Postings" page for information about a new position in the Woodburn School District.  Please also check out the "New Hires" page and heap praise onto your recently employed buddies.

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who made contributions to "The Pacific Educator" this month.  I've received wonderful reviews and ideas for future issues.  Submissions for future issues will always be due at the end of the month.  Therefore, if you'd like to contribute a story to the December issue, be sure to have it in no later than November 30th.  If you are receiving the Wednesday Weekly but did not receive "The Pacific Educator", there is something wrong.  Let me know right away and I'll be sure to add you to the mailing list.

That about wraps it up.  Remember, if you have any questions about the Wednesday Weekly, The Pacific Educator, or anything else in the COE, never hesitate to drop me a line at jphoppert@pacificu.edu.  Have a great week.

Cheers,

JH
