Allison Clark sets a school record in the 200-yard individual medley as Pacific opened the 2009-10 swim dual meet season with losses to Whitworth
SPOKANE, Wash. – Pacific opened the 2009-10 dual meet season with a pair of losses to one of the conference’s top programs as the Boxers fell to Whitworth in Northwest Conference swimming action at the Whitworth Aquatics Center.
The Whitworth men rolled past the Pacific men 164-22, while the Pirates pillaged a 152-47 victory on the women’s side. The Pirates were winners in all but one event, taking advantage of a number of injuries on both Pacific teams.
Allison Clark (Fr., Keizer, Ore.) earned the only individual victory for the Boxers in record fashion, winning the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.73. The time eclipsed the former Pacific record in the event of 2:17.86 set by Summer Foster in 2005.
Clark also swam on a pair of second place relay teams for the Boxers. The Boxers’ 400-yard medley relay team finished second with a time of 4:20.35 while the 400-yard freestyle relay team finished with a time of 3:57.95.
Brandan Mantei (Jr., Canby, Ore.) had the top finish for the Boxers in the men’s race, finishing second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 51.07 seconds and in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.15.
With the losses, Pacific falls to 0-1 in dual meets on both the men’s and women’s sides. The Boxers return to action on Saturday, concluding their eastern Washington road trip at Whitman.
