Elie Harriett '98 and Janet (Styffe) Harriett '00
The upcoming fall semester will mark ten years since we met as work-study students in the Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center's control room.
Elie was swearing at the sound equipment he was setting up for the night's performance, and Janet was trying to figure out how the light board worked.
Between classes, studying and on- and off-campus jobs, we did not have a lot of time for formal dating, so much of our courtship happened in the halls of Taylor-Meade. We got engaged during Winter III, on the day that classes were cancelled due to snow, so instead of walking two blocks to class, we drove to Tigard to buy a ring. We got married two and a half years later in a low-key courthouse ceremony.
