What is your favorite thing about Pacific University?
Its location and its broad range of interest and expertise which allows it to play a positive role in its local community, be it Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Portland or Eugene.

What do you enjoy most about being a part of the Pacific community?
The people I have come to know over the years.

Why do you think Pacific is a high-quality place for students to attend? What do you think sets Pacific apart from other Universities?
Its immersion into the community/ies it serves.

What is one thing you would change about the University if you had the power to do so?
I would add an MBA program.

What do you admire most about the University?
Its willingness to discuss new ideas.

What is your fondest memory from your time at Pacific?
The year I threw out Boxer and proposed to my wife (Not necessarily in that order).

Why did you decide to take a position on the board?
To give back to the University.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Golfing, reading, baseball.

What do you think is the most important quality in a person?
Honesty and compassion.

What is/are your favorite phrase/words of wisdom?
“The moral test of a government is how it cares for those in the dawn of life, the young; how it cares for those in the sunset of life, elderly, and; how it cares for those in the shadows of life, the poor, the disadvantaged and the handicapped.”  Hubert Humphrey

What is something you have always wanted to do?
Travel to the Mediterranean.

What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done?
Served in Vietnam.

If you could have dinner with anybody who would it be?
Harry Truman, Ted Williams, and William O. Douglas

If you could be born in a different time period, what would it be?
This period is just fine, thank you.

What is one skill you don’t have but wish you did?
Play the piano, or hit a curve ball.
