Office of Development: Stewardship
Pacific University recognizes and appreciates the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations that invest in our students, programs and services. The support of all donors, no matter the size of their gifts, creates opportunities for bright students, promotes research that improves the quality of life, and enables the University to serve the community and state with pride. The stewardship office manages relationships with our donors to make sure your gift is properly handled and you are shown our sincerest appreciation.
Donor Bill of Rights
Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights:
- To be informed of the organization's mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
- To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization's governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
- To have access to the organization's most recent financial statements.
- To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
- To receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition.
- To be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
- To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
- To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.
- To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share.
- To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.

Philanthropy has played an important role at Pacific University since it was founded in 1849. Over the years, contributions from loyal supporters have paved the way to make Pacific University one of the top rated schools in the Northwest.
The President's Circle -- The President’s Circle was created to recognize those who have donated to the University at the highest level throughout their lifetime. Members of the President’s Circle share in the goals of providing excellence in education and in preparing students to meet the challenges of a complex world. Members of the President’s Circle have made minimum lifetime cumulative contributions totaling $100,000 or more.
Annual Giving
Sidney Harper Marsh Society -- Sidney Harper Marsh, a guiding force behind the early direction of Pacific University, was often referred to as a pioneer: showing unflinching support to ensure Pacific became a successful liberal arts institution. Today, members of the Sidney Harper Marsh Society share that same steadfast commitment that continues to resonate throughout the entire University family.
Sidney Harper Marsh Society Giving Levels
Diamond $5,000 +
Platinum $2,500 - $4,999
Gold $1,000 - $2,499
Silver $500 - $999
Bronze $150 - $499
The Heart of Oak Society -- Current gifts to the University are essential to its vitality and academic strength; however, by making a planned gift to Pacific, you will continue to support programs, academics and scholarship for many years to come. Pacific University strongly values the investment individuals in the Heart of Oak Society have made and has created a special giving society to recognize their investment in the future of Pacific.
The Heart of Oak Society acknowledges the generosity of any individual who has listed Pacific University in any estate planning tool such as a will, bequest or life insurance. It is important to make Pacific aware of your decision so that you can be recognized for your gift. However, if you choose to remain anonymous, we will honor your wishes.
Recognition for Your Gift
