Office of Development: Ways to Gives to Pacific
Once you have decided where you would like to give, your individual preferences and lifestyle are important in deciding how to give. Your gift may take the form of cash, securities, real estate or almost any kind of personal property with marketable value. We would be glad to help you find a way of supporting Pacific that suits you best. For more information, please see the ways to give below or contact the Office of University Relations at 503-352-2211.

Phonathon
For several weeks during the fall and spring semesters, Phonathon student callers reach out to alumni, parents and friends in order to raise unrestricted financial support for Pacific University. These students also establish essential connections for Pacific and maintain ties with those who are unable to visit the University.
As direct recipients of financial aid, Phonathon callers are not only calling to ask for support, they are also calling to thank you for the great opportunities and experiences they are receiving at Pacific University.
Our Phonathon callers look forward to speaking with you soon.
Unrestricted Giving
The Annual Fund is among Pacific's highest fundraising priorities. Each year the University reaches out to alumni, parents, students, faculty and staff, friends, corporations, foundations and other organizations to help enrich and strengthen the current resources of the campus. Tuition only covers 80% of the cost of education at Pacific. In addition, over 93 percent of our students receive financial aid. The stronger Pacific's Annual Fund, the better-equipped the University is to provide an excellent educational environment for students and to address the institution’s most urgent needs, such as financial aid, program enhancements, and special curricular and co-curricular initiatives. Gifts to the annual fund may be directed toward a particular college and/or program of your choice. Every gift, large or small, directly impacts each student at Pacific.
Our 2009-2010 Annual Fund goal is $600,000. The Annual Giving office raises money through personal visits, the phonathon, direct mail, reunion giving, and online support.
For information on making a gift to the Annual Fund, please contact Kelly Elliott, Director of Annual Giving, at 503-352-2892 or send an email to kelliott@pacificu.edu.
Planned Giving
You believe in the work of Pacific University, and you want to ensure that we will be a force for good in the lives of generations of individuals to come. You want your gift to make a difference for us, but are concerned about your own future financial needs and those of your family.
We deeply appreciate your support and try to make it as rewarding for you as it is for us. That's why we want you to know about the financial tools you can use to plan your gift to us so that it returns benefits to you:
- You don't have to use cash to make your gift -- you can give us appreciated securities instead, and use an asset that costs you less than the tax deduction you'll get for it today.
- You may be holding assets that would benefit the University more than they do you -- such as a life insurance policy that you no longer need, a parcel of real estate like a second home or undeveloped land, or a collection of books or artwork that you no longer have room to display.
- You can make a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime - make us a beneficiary of your will or revocable trust, or a beneficiary of your retirement plan, and leave your cash flow and current financial planning uninterrupted.
- You can make the University a partner in your giving -- you can deed us your home but continue to live there, you can sell us property at a charitable discount, and you can make a gift that pays you lifetime income.
These tools are called planned gifts. When you're ready to hear more, please contact:
