Office of Development: Who Gives to Pacific
Over 3,000 community members made a gift to Pacific University last year in support of programs and initiatives that enhance the Pacific experience for each student. We invite you to explore the links below to learn more about why your gift is important.
Alumni
Support from our alumni demonstrates how much they value their education. Alumni recognize the benefits they received from Pacific and want to provide the same opportunities to current and future Pacific students. Alumni have the opportunity to support the area of greatest need with a gift to the Annual Fund; gifts may also be designated to a specific college, program or department.
Every gift, large or small, increases Pacific’s alumni participation rate. Participation rates are used to determine national rankings for universities and colleges. Higher rankings help Pacific recruit students and faculty as well as increasing the value of the Pacific degree.
Faculty & Staff
Pacific University faculty and staff work hard to advance the University and support our students on a daily basis. However, our faculty and staff’s commitment goes beyond teaching. The Pacific community recognizes the need to support the University with gifts to the Annual Fund, scholarships, the endowment, and capital projects.
If you would like to give through Payroll Deduction, please download the PDF form here or contact Kelly Elliott, Director of Annual Giving, at 503-352-2892 or send an email to kelliott@pacificu.edu.
Students

Phonathon Callers, Fall 2009
During the 2008-2009 school year a new push to encourage students to give to Pacific University has begun. Tuition pays for less than 80% of what it takes to run this university and the other 20% is made up with the help of personal donations. Students are encouraged to give to the Annual Fund where their gift will make the most immediate impact. Gifts can be made online, on the 3rd floor of Marsh Hall in the University Relations office or by contacting any member of the Student Giving Committee.
The Vice President’s at Pacific University have pledged to collectively match each percentage point of student participation with $100 to the Annual Fund.
We encourage all students to find a cause on campus that they believe in and help to further that cause in any way they can. Check out the great magnet set everyone who gives gets for giving to Pacific University!
For questions please contact Meredith Brynteson at meredithb@pacificu.edu or by calling 503-352-2144
Parents
Every year parents of students and alumni demonstrate their commitment to Pacific by making a donation to Pacific. Parents see firsthand the difference the University makes in a student’s life, and they pledge their support to make a Pacific education possible for not only their child, but future Boxers as well.
Reunion Giving
To celebrate the beginning of Pacific’s 160th year, the classes of 1959, 1969, 1979, 1984, 1989, and 1999 are working together to reach an overall reunion goal of $160,000 with 30 percent participation. Gifts to all funds are counted toward this goal.
Alumni celebrating their reunion year have an opportunity to reflect on the experiences they had at Pacific and show support for the exceptional education they received at their alma mater. While steeped in tradition, Pacific must continually expand programs, increase opportunities for students and faculty, and respond to the escalating cost of education. Tuition only covers 80 percent of the cost of educating each student at Pacific, and over 90 percent of our undergraduates receive additional financial aid.
If you are celebrating your reunion this year, please consider making a gift in support of the reunion giving effort. Gifts to all funds are counted toward the dollar and participation goals.

Corporations & Foundations
The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations is all about building relationships that involve mutually beneficial partnerships to further the mission of Pacific University. These partnerships play an important role in supporting and advancing Pacific’s teaching, research and service initiatives. The result is increased pedagogical innovation, re-vamped, re-furbished and new facilities, support for research and exploration, and an improved institutional profile.
