FOR OREGON: Effective with year 2009 license renewal, beginning January 1, 2009, all active status licensees practicing optometry in Oregon shall have obtained certification to use “topical and nontopical therapeutic pharmaceutical agents” as a condition of license renewal (AT license).
FOR WASHINGTON: In 2006, Washington’s legislature determined that the state’s health care consumers would be best served if all optometrists were uniformly licensed at the highest level. RCW 18.53.010 was modified to reflect this requirement, with a deadline of January 1, 2011.
FOR ALASKA: Alaska licensed optometrists need to take the OPW 23-hour Didactic course, plus the OPW 4-hour injection course PLUS the 3-hour Injections Supplement to meet the 7-hour injections requirement.
