Ethics and Optometric Laws

ATTEND OREGON OPTOMETRY BOARD MEETING

At least 1 of the required hours every other license year must be in the area of optometric ethics or Oregon optometry law and administrative rules. Licensees may receive one hour of optometric ethics/Oregon optometry law credit per year for verified attendance of at least one hour at an official meeting of the Oregon Board of Optometry.

The next regular meeting of the Board is scheduled for May 9, 2014 in the first floor conference room at 1500 Liberty Street SE, Salem Oregon 97302. The Notice and Agenda for this meeting will be sent to individuals who have asked to be placed on the Board's list of interested parties.  Optometrists may attend the public session of the Board meeting to meet the ethics/Oregon law requirement. Please check the Oregon Board website for meeting hours.

NBEO ONLINE STATE LAW EXAM

Some candidates may be required to take a state-board-prepared examination regarding the statutes, rules, and regulations that govern the practice of optometry in that state. Since January 2010, NBEO has offered the Online State Law Exam (OSLE) program to assist some state boards by administering their state law exams in an online version through the NBEO website. As a candidate takes the law exam, the NBEO website provides a link to the chosen state optometry board website, which in turn serves as a reference source for the candidate by presenting the optometry laws specific to that state. An official score of a state law exam given by the NBEO must be obtained directly from that state board; law exam scores do not appear on the NBEO Official.  This course will meet the Oregon Requirement.
