Parents: Seeking to impart Some Much Needed Knowledge to Your College Freshman? Here is a list of some books that our Pacific staff, students and parents have found useful in the past.
This web page is designed to help you with your student's transition to Pacific University. This year's orientation staff is actively working on making your student's transition a smooth one.
Here are some things about which you will want to be aware as you look forward to August.
Important Reminders
- Please RSVP with the number of parents attending Parent Orientation to orientation@pacificu.edu or 503-352-2045 by August 1st.

Orientation Highlights that you don't want to miss
- Informational Fair - Find out what resources are available to you and your student on campus.
- Letter Writing - A chance for you to write a letter telling your student all of the things you wish for them as they depart on this journey of their life, which will be delivered at a time of your choosing.
- First Year Seminar - Meet your students FYS professor and ask them questions about their college classes.
- Sign, Shake and Ring - A tradition at Pacific! See your student sign the book of enrollment and announce their presence by ringing the bell in Old College Hall, the oldest building West of the Mississippi still in academic use. This is also a wonderful photo opportunity.
- Learn about Professional Programs at Pacific - Some of the new and existing programs will be highlighted including our new expansion to Hillsboro.
- Community Service - A chance for you to make a difference at your student's new school.

We invite all Boxer Parents, including Transfer Student Parents, to take advantage of these sessions.
We invite parents who will not be attending the FYS Class to attend a special session with the Assistant Academic Dean to learn about the academic expectations of the University.
