This unofficial prerequisite evaluation is to help you determine which required coursework you have completed and which coursework you still need to meet our prerequisite requirements. Required prerequisite coursework does not need to be completed to apply to the School of Occupational Therapy. To be eligible for admission for a given academic year you need to be able to show that you can complete ALL required prerequisite coursework in a reasonable amount of time.

Prerequisite Coursework

NATURAL SCIENCES: Credits
Human Anatomy with lab

Human Physiology with lab
Physics course is recommended. (This course need not be calculus based.) After completion of anatomy and physiology, any natural science courses may be taken in order to have a total of 12 SEM. HOURS.
Note:Anatomy and physiology must be completed within the last seven years.
SOCIAL SCIENCES: Credits

Courses from minimally two (2) of the following areas: psychology, sociology, anthropology, politics, government, business, and economics. In these areas, include a life-span development course, and an abnormal psychology course.

EXPOSITORY WRITING: Credits
200 level course or above

APPLIED ARTS: Credits
Various hands-on courses such as design, ceramics, dance, photography, or music.

Note: Personal "life experience" does not meet this requirement. Art or music appreciation, history, theory courses will not meet this requirement. A portion of this requirement may be completed through organized non-credit courses. If you select to do so, you must contact the Office of Admissions for Professional Programs to receive procedural forms prior to the application.
COMMUNICATION: Credits
Debate or public speaking

RESEARCH METHODS: Credits
Courses from any of the following departments: psychology, sociology, or anthropology.

Note: Must include a qualitative research component. Statistics will be accepted.
HUMANITIES: (in addition to the writing prerequisite.) Credits
Courses from two (2) of the following areas: literature, religion, history, philosophy, ethics, and the history or appreciation of art, music, or theatre.

CROSS CULTURAL STUDIES: Credits
Courses on the cultures of Asia, Africa, Latin America, or aspects of the American culture that draw upon these areas or the cultures of the indigenous peoples of North America.

May be taken "pass/no pass." 2
MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY: Credits
May be taken "credit/no credit." Complete sequence or course
