Steven Cool, PhD, FAAO
Professor
Grounded in a strong liberal arts education, Steven Cool found the language of science coupled with liberal arts as an integrated way to finding "the truth." Throughout his career, he has focused his research on brain plasticity and shown that the brain changes through meaningful, purposeful interactions with theenvironment; his work and perspective are a natural fit with the philosophy of Occupational Therapy. His research, relevant to rehabilitation, has received national acclaim and awards. Steven has taught in the School of Occupational Therapy since 1986, with the primary role of weaving the connection between the neuroplasticity of the brain, the evolution of humanity and who we are today.
A much sought after continuing education lecturer, Steven lectures around the world to occupational therapists and other health professionals. This provides opportunities for ongoing exchange of new and updated information from within the US and abroad. Committed to lifelong learning, he challenges his colleagues and students to continually question thoughts and ideas and to explore and use varied ways of knowing in the search for truth.
