Bachelor Degree Completion Option

The Bachelor Degree Option is reserved for applicants who bring a significant amount of health care experience who have not had the opportunity to complete their degree. Applicants who are in the process of completing their bachelor degree or who will complete their bachelor degree before the start of the program are not eligible.

The eligible student must be admitted to the School of Physician Assistant Studies and have completed 86 semester hours of transfer credit that includes all of the prerequisites for the PA program. In addition, the following courses are required to fulfill the degree requirements for the College of Arts and Sciences and must be completed prior to the start of the PA program.

                    Prior to the program:

                         -Completion of two language courses (Spanish recommended)

                    During the program by completing the following:

                         -Basic Spanish inegrated into Clinical Medicine modules (3 credits)

                         -Spanish Language elective in Costa Rica taught during two weeks between

                          didactic and clinical year.  An immersion course with additional costs to the

                          student of approximately $1500.  (3 credits)

                        

Upon successful completion of the first year of the professional program and the above requirements, the student will receive 40 semester hours of upper division credit to be awarded towards a Bachelor in Science in Health Studies degree. The student will continue the program to complete the Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree at the conclusion of the program.
